Bell River Estate is located on the Mitchell Highway at Neurea near Wellington in Central New South Wales, an hour from Orange, Mudgee and Dubbo. Bell River Estate has been owned by Sandra and Michael Banks since 2000; however the licence for the property goes back to 1950. Bell River Estate produces table wines and fortified wines from Estate grown grapes and grapes grown in the local area - a combination of commercial growers and small land holders with an interest in growing their own wine grapes. The warmer climate in Neurea allows Bell River Estate to produce fortified wines (what used to be called ports) using the higher sugar content that ripening in warmer climates offers. The fortified range includes a Tawny (of various ages), Fortified Shiraz and a Liqueur Muscat. A range of table wines is also produced, seasonal factors permitting, including a White (often Chardonnay, sometimes a Verdelho) a fruitier Rose (Grenache or Muscat) and a Red (usually a Shiraz or Cabernet). The Bell River Estate Cellar Door is open 9-6 daily and wines are available at farmers markets in Sydney and Dubbo. Bell River Estate also exports wine and produces speciality wine products.
